Dear Parents,

If you had the chance to attend the Conners-Emerson grades 2 through 4 Winter Concert, our students did a great job after weeks of preparation.  In the coming days 1st grade will be doing their part to spread holiday cheer by visiting Malvern Belmont to provide residents with the gift of song and snack. Conners-Emerson's middle school students will get their chance to provide holiday cheer on the 19th.  If you have the opportunity to come listen to the culmination of their hard work and effort you won't be disappointed!  The concert will start at 7:00 P.M.

Congratulations to our math team American Math Competition's 8 finalists: Alden our top scorer, Taki and Zachary who tied for 2nd place, Annie who was 3rd, and Max who was 4th. In addition to their top finishes for our team, Alden, Taki, and Zachary will receive Certificates of Honor for being in the top 5% nationwide and Max earned a Certificate of Merit for a high score earned by a 6th grader. Well done, Mathletes!

If you plan on visiting school next week you be delighted to see teachers sharing their crafting skills with students in the Library after school.  Ms. Neilly will be baking cookies and constructing gingerbread houses, Mrs. Barter will be making ornaments while Ms. Hanson makes collages and Mrs. Hanna decoupages.

Next week is conference week with report cards being sent home Tuesday and conferences scheduled for Thursday and Friday.  If you have not scheduled a conference, please contact your child's teacher. If you can't make any of the scheduled times please work with teachers to find a time that works so you get to discuss your child's progress.

Good luck to the Tigers Robotics Team at their competition this weekend!

Have a Great Weekend!

Hello parents and baseball fans,

The MDI Falcons will be entering two teams in the Orono Winter Baseball League which starts Sunday, December 30, 2012.  The season runs eight weeks with one game per week played in the Mahaney Dome on the Orono Campus.

The first age division is 9-12  which corresponds to Little League age minors and majors divisions.  Any player who will be 9,10,11, or 12 years old on the date of May 1, 2013 would qualify for that division.  The second group is for older players with school ball distances between the bases and the pitcher's mound to home plate.  This division is for players who will be 13 or 14 on May 1, 2013.

The season runs for eight weeks and most games will be played Sunday afternoons. The schedule will be out soon.  Games run two hours and the times slots are staggered throughout the afternoon.  This year in addition to the scheduled games there will be eight one hour training sessions held by the University of Maine Black Bear Training Staff at their new hitting facility adjacent to the Club House.  For teams like the Falcons traveling long distances, the trainings will take place the same afternoons as the games.

The cost per player is $250 and the teams will consist of 10-12 players. When the snow is blowing, the winds howling and temperatures are near zero there are a kids in Maine playing baseball and learning from the Maine Black Bears Training Staff.  If you would like more information about this special opportunity please write or call.
