Dear Parents,

Happy New Year! Despite the cold weather, we are delighted to be back with our students and look forward to getting outside and enjoying the wonderful snow. I want to assure you, we continue to review our safety practices and are committed to ensuring the best possible safety measures, while maintaining a school environment which is inviting to students and community members. We are committed to finding the appropriate balance between school climate and student safety. We will be sending more information home, as we revise/update our current procedures.

The month of December was filled with many student activities, thanks to Siobhan Ryan and the staff who helped offer the after-school specials. We are starting January with a similarly busy schedule. We have the Geography Bee for our Middle School students on Tuesday, January 8th at 8:30 am. In addition, we will be hosting several home basketball games during the month. Our boys/girls basketball players along with our cheerleaders are working hard perfecting their techniques. The Show Choir and Jazz Band have stepped up their practices in anticipation of their district competitions over the next few months.

In addition, students are also busy with robotics, math meets and Destination Imagination activities. Please make sure you check our school events calendar on our homepage under the tab of calendars and schedules, ( for the most up to date information. We look forward to seeing you at one of these student events.

If you have not already, please take a few moments to provide feedback on the report card and conferences you had with teachers just a few weeks ago. We are interested in your feedback as we move forward on our path of standards based learning and reporting.  Just click here to complete the survey. Thank you for your time and thoughtful response.

The CDC reports that flu activity is widespread throughout Maine.  There is still time to get vaccinated before peak flu activity, which usually occurs in February.  The flu vaccine is readily available at your local doctor's office as well as local pharmacies.  As the flu continues to spread in the community, please keep your child home if they are ill, as children will be send home with flu-like symptoms.  For anyone who has had a fever, they should only return to school once they have been fever-free for 24 hours (without use of Tylenol, Advil etc..).  Please visit the Nurse's Corner link for more information and/or call the school nurse for any questions or concerns.

Because we have a student with a (severe) shellfish allergy, we are a shellfish-free school.

This means that no student or staff member should bring into the school any shellfish or food containing shellfish. This includes lobster, crab, mussels, clams, etc.
